Iggy lay awake that evening, staring at the plain ceiling as the fan whirled slowly around the flickering light bulbs. He probably should have turned it off by now, seeing as the morning had come and he had yet to sleep. His mind was sort of blown, but he couldn’t figure out if it was in the good way or not. He hadn’t even realized what had happened between himself and Special K until some of his pack members had told him what the hell was going on. He was doing his turn at the patrol the other day with one of his brothers and one of his friends. As usual, he couldn’t get the thought of Special K off his mind. He didn’t really think about the fact that they could hear everything he was thinking. He wasn’t thinking anything dirty about her or something rude like that, he was just thinking about her, all the time. Apparently it got annoying for them after awhile. Ethan, on the other hand, didn’t even realize what he was doing, nor why he was thinking about her so much. It wasn’t until an hour into their patrol that his brother actually mentioned the fact that he couldn’t stop thinking about the blonde beauty. All Iggy could do was shrug and give him a wolfish grin. He tried to stop thinking about her, he really did, but when it failed, the other wolves clued in to what the hell was going on with him. Why Iggy hadn’t heard of imprinting they didn’t know, but it probably had something to do with the fact that he was probably one of the most oblivious people in the world. He generally tuned out half of the things the other people said, only really listening when he was interested or when something important was being said. Hence his shock to the event.
Finally Iggy moved from his bed and hit the light switch. The fan stopped moving and the lights finally flickered off. It seemed that sleep was not going to come, nor would it until perhaps this evening. Whatever. He was hungry. What a surprise. He wasn’t sad, though. In fact he was rather over the moon with happiness. He was just shocked that his wolf genes picked someone for him to fall hopelessly in love with, rather than letting him find out for himself. The good thing about that was that it took all of the guess work out of it. Ethan was a horrible dater. He always got so awkward and nervous, either that or he was too much of a goofball and the girls eventually grew bored of the fact that he wasn’t ‘serious’ enough. He was perfectly serious, when he wanted to be. He just happened to not want to be serious all the time. Life was more fun if you lived it the way you wanted to live it, not the way someone else wanted you to live it. Oh well. He went to the fridge and got out half a dozen eggs and two bagels. He was more hungry than that, but he figured he could just have a huge lunch. His mother usually cooked dinner, but some days she did lunch too. And when she did, it was basically a massive feast because her four children were werewolves. Give or take some of them didn’t live there anymore, but still. Their father didn’t understand why they ate so much, only because they made a deal to hide it from him. They got the gene from their mother’s father’s family. He cooked up his breakfast in record time, and ate it even faster, then looked around the kitchen. He decided to take himself to the rec center.
He was horribly bored, so why not go there? He wanted to see Special K so badly, but figured that he also did not want to seem clingy. They weren’t even dating. Though he wanted to date her. He didn’t really like to think about her being with other guys. It just made his heart sad. He walked merrily down his street in his skinny jeans, Chucks, and purple v-neck, completely oblivious to everything as usual. It was a good thing he was a rather lanky wolf in comparison to all of the other ones. He found it rather odd to see the bodybuilder type in the clothes he wore. But his tall, willowy frame pulled them off. Awesome. He made it to the rec center just as it opened, so people hadn’t really arrived yet. Well, that was boring. Iggy would just chill out until someone arrived. He didn’t really care who. He knew a lot of the people that were regulars there, though occasionally people wandered in that he didn’t know. But he didn’t mind that. If people hadn’t guessed by now, he was a very sociable person. Iggy wandered to the back where the locker rooms were. You weren’t really supposed to have a permanent locker, but Iggy never listened. He grabbed his swim trunks and went for a quick dip in the pool before drying off and changing back. Then he went to the pool of other sorts. You know, the pool table. Haha, how lame. Anywho. He set up the triangle thingie with balls and removed it, and for awhile was rather fascinated with the fact that they would actually stay in their triangular formation even though they were spheres and should move. And then he began to play with himself. Wait, that sounded dirty. He played pool alone. There we go. Better.

Kaitlyn still had yet to figure out what had gone on between her and Mister Ethan Wyatt a few weeks ago. She had tried to explain to her brother what had happened and he said maybe it was one of those wolf things she didn’t know about because she wasn’t in a pack. To that she snarled. It only took the whole first week and a half she was there to convince Damien that she wasn’t crazy and was indeed a wolf. Of course, he only believed her because she phased in front of him. She was surprised she could phase considering she rarely ever did it. Back to Iggy. Kaitie wasn’t sure what made her think about him all the time, what made her wish she hadn’t gone to her brother’s so that she could spend time with him instead, or what made her want to give up everything she had just to be with him, even if it was only as friends. She just didn’t know. She really did want to figure out, though, but the more she tried, the less important it seemed to be. She was starting to not care about the fact that she wanted all of those things. She had to make herself stop. Kaitlyn had to stop herself quite often and remind herself that Iggy was not the kind of guy she needed. She may have wanted him, but she did not need him. He was too much of a joker. That wasn’t to say it wasn’t a good thing, but she wasn’t all that convinced he knew how to be serious. She had some serious moments that required someone she was with to be serious and just listen to her rather than joke around. Now, she had never been in that sort of situation when it came to Ethan, but she wasn’t all too sure she wanted to know what a situation like that would turn out like because she feared some sort of disappointment.
In the passenger seat of Damien’s car, Kaitlyn wiggled slightly. The ride back from Seattle was hardly ever her favorite thing in the world. She didn’t like coming home to her parents or to an empty house, which she knew would be the case this time. She didn’t necessarily want to go home, this time, but she wanted back into La Push. Crossing the city limits made her so excited, she could hardly contain the enjoyment she felt, but she did for her brother’s sake. He already knew she didn’t want to see him this go around, especially after his major freak out this past summer. He was lucky he got her to come down for the weekend of his birthday. ”Where to Kait?” he asked knowing she didn’t want to go home right now. She shrugged her shoulders truly unsure of where she wanted to go today. ”How about the rec center?” she questioned. ”The rec center? Are you serious?” She looked over at him with a harsh glare. Why would she lie about it? She softened her look at him and sighed, ”Yes, I’m very serious. There are other people there my age to hang out with.””You’re not going to look for that guy are you?” To that she rolled her eyes. ”No, Damien, I am not going for any specific purpose other than the fact that home is just boring ALL the time. You would know, right? It’s why you moved away.” That shut him up really quickly and she felt absolutely horrible for it. The reasons for his leaving had been a very sore subject amongst all members of the family. It only bothered Kaitie because she was hurt by his sudden move away from home and his attempts to keep distant from the family.
”Here you are,” Damien said as he stopped quickly in front of the building. Kaitlyn was waiting for him to tell her to have a nice life. ”I’m sorry Damien,” she looked down and then back up at him, ”I just need to figure this out.” He knew very well what this was. He nodded, though, saying he accepted her apology. Kaitie reached over the car and hugged her brother, telling him she loved him and then got out of his car. She never expected that their relationship would ever be strained the way it had been recently, but it was only because she was confused. She was sure they would figure it out soon. The moment the car left her view, Kaitlyn made her way inside the rec center. The smell of sweat instantly took her over from the number of people who were in the gym. Why was working out such a big thing now? She rolled her eyes at the number of guys who tried to show off how amazing their muscles were and made her way somewhere else. She wasn’t exactly prepared for anything at this place. She was in a pair of blue jeans, a t-shirt, and a hoodie with a pair of flip flops that she wore everywhere unless it was absolutely cold. So, she decided, because of her shoes, that she could do no physical sport or activity. Instead, she decided to just hang around the pool tables. She knew a few of her friends went there every afternoon to play pool. Sure enough, there they were, but Kaitie was caught completely off guard by that feeling in her stomach that she had had that afternoon she met Ethan because there he was. What she did next was probably the dumbest thing she could have done. Instead of joining her friends, she made her way to him. ”Boo!” she exclaimed as though she could scare him. He probably smelled her the second she walked into the room, but, hey, she enjoyed thinking she could sneak up on him.

Playing pool with yourself was a fairly boring thing. I mean, I’m sure there are plenty of other things Ethan could be doing that would be far more boring, but at the current point in time, he couldn’t think of any of those other activities. Though, he supposed that just sitting there staring off into space could be considered a boring activity. Unless you were thinking of something useful and somehow discovered the cure for cancer. But then he supposed you wouldn’t be bored because there would be all sorts of weird science things floating around in front of your mind. Well, you’d really have a purpose, now wouldn’t you? Unlike Ethan, who’s main purpose right now was hitting balls with other balls and his big long stick. Though, since his mind was on the topic of finding cures for things, maybe he could find a cure for this whole imprinting mess. On one hand, he loved the fact that he had met the girl that he was undeniably in love with. On the other hand, he felt kind of bad for her. He didn’t know if those feelings were reciprocated or not. He didn’t want to force her into doing something with her life that she didn’t even want to do in the first place. Well, the more correct word of choice should probably have been not wanting to force her to do someone, but that was just the more so immature way of looking at it (the best way to look at things in life). But nonetheless, Ethan was not the sort of guy that would force a girl to be with him. And that’s what worried him the most. What if she didn’t want to be with him? Maybe there was such a thing as imprinting on someone who didn’t imprint on you back.
And that would probably just about break his heart. It hurt him enough to even imagine Special K’s reaction if he told her how he felt. She could laugh in his face, she could run away screaming. Sure, he’d kissed her, but maybe she just wasn’t sure how to react so she smiled automatically for lack of better things to do. Crap, crap, crap. Normally Ethan was a rather happy go lucky person, but he was also the type of person that over reacted. And now was just another one of those times, unfortunately. Ethan wasn’t like his brothers at all. He was the nicer, kinder, more caring of the Wyatt wolves. He actually had a heart and feelings, though he tended to shield that fact when his brothers were around. He had tried not to phase for the past few weeks, at least not when he knew that his brothers were in their wolf form, because he didn’t want them to hear about his thoughts on Special K. He knew that he would never hear the end of it until the day they were all paired up. Even though one of his brothers was out and dating some chick or something, they loved to tease Iggy since he was the youngest. As Iggy’s thoughts progressed on the topic of miss Special K, his skills at pool became progressively worse. He just didn’t care anymore; if Special K had the same feelings for him, he’d be happy and go on living his carefree life the way he always did. Now he just needed to bring up his feelings in a way that didn’t sound weird. Or maybe…it could work if it did sound weird, since he did everything weird in his life anyways. Maybe she’d like in it a strange sort of way?
As Iggy was thinking about ways he could express himself to Kaitlyn, his nose caught the scent of the most heavenly creature on earth. Of course, he already knew who this creature was, and she was more so a person rather than a creature. A very pretty creature. Not wanting to seem overzealous, he just continued playing pool as if he never knew she had walked into the rec centre. He wondered, prayed if she knew that he was there. If he could smell her, she could probably too. He looked up at her briefly, making sure she didn’t notice, and continued on with his game of solo pool. Act cool, aloof. Ha! As if Iggy was ever calm with anything in his life. He knew quite well that she was sneaking up on him, so he planned his own attack as well. Two could play at that game. The second she said boo, he twirled around and scooped her up quickly, spinning her in a circle. He put the tiny girl back on her feet and looked down at her with a smile. ”Oh, what a fail secret agent you would be,” he teased. Seeing her alleviated that fear that had been dancing along his spine. Now, how oh how was the supposed to bring it up to her? It was rather frightening if he just yelled I LOVE YOU BE MINE FOREVER. So he figured that it would not be the best route. ”So, how is my shorty on this fine summer morning?” asked, placing the pool stick on the table and completely forgetting about it. He didn’t care about anything other than her right now. Then again, he didn’t really care about anything much else when she wasn’t around, other than the fact that he wanted her around. Poor Special K, he was madly in love with her and she didn’t even know it.

Kaitlyn had to remember to keep her composure when it came to Iggy. As much as she wanted to just fall into his arms and scream that she loved him at the top of her lungs, she had to be careful. She couldn’t do that. It wasn’t a wise idea to do that. She had to remember that what was going on between them was not right and should not be happening at all. She thought between them. Truthfully, she knew how she felt. How he felt was another question all together, but she wasn’t sure she wanted to know exactly how he felt. If it wasn’t the same as her, she would be very hurt. First of all, they had kissed. That kiss she would never forget. It was like being with her ex again, but somehow better, if that was possible. He also flirted with her, whether he was honestly aware of that or not was another question all together. He had given her so many signs to prove he liked her to that if he didn’t it would kill her. If he did feel the same as her, then what would she do? Kaitie didn’t want to really admit that she was moving on from what had happened about a year ago. She wanted to ignore it all. She felt as if she should still be mourning. She would find any excuse and every excuse just to admit to herself that she wasn’t ready to move on and she didn’t want anyone else. Kaitie would pin point all the little things about Iggy that would annoy any other girl and use them as the reasons they couldn’t date when, in reality, she loved all the little quirks about him. They always made her smile and laugh. That didn’t take away from the fact that she would use them against him. If she could use it, she would use it.
Had Kaitlyn honestly expected Ethan not to notice her entrance? Absolutely not. She was pretty sure that he knew she was there the entire time, just as she had caught onto his presence very quickly. That was one of the perks or not of being a werewolf with super awesome powers like that. So, didn’t intend on him to jump out of his skin or shake a little from her announcing herself. What she had not expected was when he picked her up and twirled her around just as soon as the words came out of her mouth. Now that was odd. Well, she always pegged Iggy as the kind of guy that would do that. So, it couldn’t really be considered weird. Maybe what she was looking to say was that she didn’t think he would do it then and to her. Not even that made sense in her head. She was back on the ground. It didn’t take her long to find her footing again. That was great! Otherwise, she would be lying face down on the floor. ”I guess I never picked up the idea of stealth very well, then, did I?” she shook her head as if slightly disappointed in herself, ”I guess I’ll never pass ninja training now.” No! There was that joking and teasing they had the last time they spoke. Kaitie refused to let this happen. She was not going to let either one of them get their hopes up high all to have them burn. Then again, he was so cute. No, cute was not the word for it. Whatever the word was, she didn’t want to tear her eyes away from him and he was so sweet and full of life. How could she not flirt even if she believed it was the wrong thing to do? This would indeed be a long day if it started here.
Kaitlyn was already lost in her train of thought and just staring at him. Great! That took all of ten seconds to do. She shook her head as she heard his next question. Stupid fantasizing! It always caused trouble for her. She shrugged her shoulders, ”Ok, I guess. I made my brother mad. So, the trip home was anything but fun.” That really did upset her, not that it showed now that she was with Iggy. She and Damien never fought. There had never been a better brother and sister duo than the two of them. They saw eye to eye all the time. They had the same interests. One without the other was not a possible thing to happen. Kaitie was sure if her brother died she find a way of at least attempting suicide. Never had they honestly argued. But they had while she was with him this time. Today was just the end because they both knew they had to get over it or they wouldn’t talk for a long time if ever again. However, as much as that should have been bothering her, it really wasn’t. What was this stupid thing with Ethan? Why did it make her feel that way? She knew it wasn’t normal because she was never one to just fall in love with someone so easily. Yet, there she was, completely and totally infatuated with the werewolf that stood right there in front of her. ”And how are you? Enjoying your game of pool much?” It was funny how much she honestly cared how he was. She had asked a dozen people that question, but never meant it more genuinely than she did in respect to him. Maybe she should have just learned to accept things the way they were and get over it. It couldn’t be all that bad if she just let herself believe that things were supposed to fall into place like this.

It was kind of scary and ridiculous at the same time how much one person could mean to another. Like, for seriously. He always imagined himself getting married some day or whatever, though not obsessively like a little five year old girl. It was just one of those things that he always expected to happen. But before he became a wolf and learned of the whole imprinting thing, he didn’t know how hard his love for someone else would slap him in the face. It was the greatest feeling in the world, but also the most terrifying. Great to love her, terrifying in fear of the rejection. But right now she was there and that’s all that really mattered to Ethan. It was like he always knew when she was there. That was great because then she could never sneak up on him, but not so great because he couldn’t sneak up on her in return. They just had to be so darn in tune with each other, didn’t they? Oh well. Ethan ignored his game of pool and looked down at the tiny beautiful blonde. She seemed so fragile and he seemed so huge, but they secerelty knew that she was not as fragile as she appeared to be. Sure, he’d still be gentle and not exactly go throw her around and see how much he could test her, but he didn’t really have to worry as much as when he dated human girls. Sure, human girls were nice, but they weren’t all that tough. Not only did he not really have to worry about it, but he also didn’t have to worry about stopping his phasing and growing old. Unless of course that was something that Special K wanted. But he wanted to be able to live with her for as long as they could before they moved on together. But maybe he was getting a bit ahead of himself. Probably was. Damn imprinting.
Ethan smiled down at her and was almost knocked speechless. Ha, Iggy being speechless; as if. This was a boy that never shut up and often found himself in bad predicaments when he didn’t. Though sometimes he found himself in good situations, too. Like meeting Kaitlyn, for instance. Iggy shook his head and laughed. ”No, no you certainly did not. But maybe that’s what would actually make you a good secret agent. No one would suspect you of being one, because you were so atrocious at being stealthy,” he pointed out. Well, there was a new career path for her if she couldn’t figure anything out or if she couldn’t go through with the career path she had now, if she had one, that was. Ethan pat her tiny blonde head and grinned. ”That’s okay, pirates are cooler than ninjas anyways. I’ll just jab out your eye and get you a parrot, and you’ll be good to go,” he said jokingly. Good Lord, he could never cause harm to her. He’d hurt himself a million times over just trying to make up for it. That was good though, it meant she got to keep her eye and that he’d do anything to keep her safe. Girls liked that right? Lord, he hoped so. Ethan might have been goofy, but he was also very good at protecting people. Iggy watched her for a minute. She seemed stuck between two grounds. It was like she was joking around with him, but somewhat stopping herself at the same time. Then again, most of the time he was rather atrocious at reading people. Maybe it was just the obscene hit difference that was skewing his view of her and she was actually just happy. Yeah, he was going to go with that choice. It seemed much more pleasant than her being displeased.
Ethan looked down at her thoughtfully and well, thought, for a moment. He didn’t really know too much about her brother. She hadn’t really said much about it, so it made sense that he wouldn’t know, but he wanted to know. Anything about Special K, he would soak up like a little wolfie sponge. ”Aww, what happened? Do you wanna talk about it?” he asked sympathetically. He knew that sometimes girls had a lot on their plates and they didn’t like dealing with it alone. Of course, boys had stuff going on too, but a lot of them kept things bubbled inside. But he also knew that girls liked guys that were considerate of their feelings. There were the odd few that didn’t like that, but he generally just didn’t mesh with those sorts of girls. Besides, he liked Kaitlyn and that certainly was never ever going to change at this rate. ”I am doing quite amazing, now that you have placed yourself in my presence,” he smiled happily. Iggy looked back at the lonely looking table and shrugged. ”The table won, as usual, so now I am abandoning it. It always cheats anyways,” he rolled his eyes and sighed. Silly pool table. He returned his focus back on her. She was the only thing in the world that actually could hold his focus. That seemed to be a pretty impossible task. He looked at her with his brown eyes and thought for a minute. He wanted to say so many things to her, but he didn’t know where that line was, you know, the one that shouldn’t be crossed. He was terrible at judging peoples’ boundaries. He just wanted to fling his arms around her and tell her he loved her, but that might be considered creepy. He’d settle with the more subtle approach for now. ”Hey, Miss Kaitlynkaitiekait, I’ve got a question for you. Have you ever heard of something called imprinting?” he asked casually, as if talking about something normal like the weather or the news. Put your plan in action, dude.

Kailtyn found it hard not liking being around Ethan. She wasn’t quite sure why either. What she wasn’t sure about either was why she wanted to work so hard at avoiding the simple fact that she felt so incredibly attached to him. She wanted to work extremely hard to push him away for some reason. What was she so afraid of? She could come up with a thousand excuses, but not one of them was honestly valid. She could work past all the things that would annoy her. If he was smart, he knew that. She would work to see past him and all the little things that should have and, normally, would have bothered her. She was so conflicted with herself. It was part of the reason she was angry. She would love to play complete blame on Damien, but not even he really deserved that much of her anger going his way. She was angry at herself, plain and simple. But being Kaitie, she would go out of her way to make it everyone else’s problem. She really wasn’t willing to vocally admit that she was at fault for something. It was always someone else’s fault that she was upset or angry, never her own. Her brother, sadly, had learned to just deal with it. Instead of telling his sister to just give up the drama queen act, he just let her do it, mostly because he knew she wouldn’t stay that way too long. Eventually, she would be back to the normal Kaitlyn that he knew and loved and teased on a regular basis. Some days, like today, he wished he had smacked some sense into her and told her that it was ok. She didn’t have to get so worked up about things and that it wasn’t anyone else’s fault but her own. She also wished he would tell her that her deceased ex would be perfectly fine with moving on. In some way, that’s part of why she was mad.
Mad? Did Kaitlyn look mad? That emotion did not come across her face for a second. She had the biggest happiest smile on her face and all because she was looking at one person. This was truly unbelievable. She would learn not to question this one day. She assured herself of that much. One day she would just be able to accept the way he made her feel so incredible. One day she would accept her feelings for Ethan without question. Today, apparently, was not that day. Tomorrow, maybe, she thought, but certainly not today. ”Hey, that could be better. I mean, I would have to sneak around. I could walk around with everyone else, and I won’t have to worry about getting caught,” she nodded as if she was satisfied with that decision. This led her to question was she wanted her future endeavors to be. This was something Kaitlyn really needed to think about as she had just turned eighteen and was on her way to graduating from high. Yuck! Two years ago, she kept telling herself that she had practically a lifetime to think about that. Again, that was another thought for another day, though she had to remind herself to make it not another month or two. She grew a look of mock displeasure on her face as he patted the top of her head. ”Pirates are cooler,” Kaitie nodded in response to what he said, ”I’ve really always wanted to be a ninja pirate hybrid, but if you are willing to poke one of my eyeballs out and buy me a pirate, an eye patch, and peg leg, I’m all for switching sides completely and just being a pirate.” Kaitlyn the pirate! That would be an interesting thing to see, especially if she was walking around on a peg leg. She had horrible balance. That would be funny to see.
”My brother and I fought, which isn’t like it’s odd or anything. We are siblings and fight all the time, but this time I just felt majorly insulted by him for some reason.” Kaitlyn wasn’t exactly sure why it had all just poured out without her thinking about it. Normally, she didn’t like to get other people involved in her and her brother’s petty little arguments. But Iggy wasn’t just a person. No, she had a hard time not telling him things, which added to the list of why she was angry that she was compiling in her head. ”It’s not all important, now. It won’t be until I have to go back to Seattle or Christmas.” Each year she held out the hope he would come for the holidays. It had yet to happen. Instead, she spent Christmas Eve with him. She set her attention on Ethan. It was that hard to do. She was naturally drawn to him anyway. She just looked at him and let her attention get caught up on him. Simple. ”Awe. It makes me wonder how you were without me around. Does not seeing me kill you, Iggy?” Her question was teasing, but she knew she felt that way. When she wasn’t around him or thinking of him she felt as if part of her way missing. It wasn’t like it was a small piece of her. This was a very large piece of herself that went missing when he wasn’t around, almost to the point where she was convinced it would be hard to function. ”I’m convinced that the table cheats all the time. It has it out so that you can’t win when you play by yourself,” she smiled slyly. This was much better than the uncontrollable amount of blushing she had done the first time they met one another. That had sucked, but she didn’t care. Damnit! That was another thing he did for her. The sound of the little name he had given her, simply putting her name and two nicknames together, made her smile more and she focused on him. Her smile fell slightly as he asked her a question about something she didn’t understand. ”Imprinting? What’s that?”

Was it a bad thing that he kinda felt like a stalker? Probably, because you know, girls generally didn’t like it when guys stalked them. But technically he hadn’t stalked her here. If anything, he could call her the stalker, because after all, he had totally come to the rec centre first. Unless of course he was like a psychic stalker or something and totally didn’t even know it. How freaky would that be? Very, at least that’s what he thought. Like he was stalking special K so amazingly that he could just predict without even thinking about it where she would be. Iggy believed that meant he was rather skilled, didn’t it? Awesome, score one for Ethan the amazing stalker. Wait, he wasn’t sure that was a title he was comfortable holding. Technically, if anything, he was only stalking Special K. And if anything, it was only because he was rather quickly starting to fall for this girl. At least he knew why now. What had truly been a pain was knowing that he liked her, even if it was just a little bit, but not knowing why he liked her. Of course, now he knew that he liked her, but more than just that. He was in love with her apparently. At least, that’s what he had been told imprinting was like. Now he was just worried that she didn’t imprint on him back. It might have been easier had he imprinted on a human, because he wouldn’t have to worry whether they imprinted on him. He’d just have to worry whether or not they actually liked him. But then with Kaitlyn, he had to worry about both, now didn’t he? And Ethan was only one man, he could only really worry about so much at once. For now, he’d just worry about the stalking thing. Then, he would worry about the imprinting, and then whatever came after that pretty much.
”Exactly. Though if I were you in your secret agent form, I wouldn’t go around spilling the country’s greatest secrets. I mean, I know I’m not technically American, but I’m sure I wouldn’t want this country to go under anyways. Now Russia, you can go ahead and spill all of their secrets. Maybe you could be like a double agent or something. Of course, someone that wasn’t stealthy might have a problem with being a double agent, but then again you would think that they would have a problem being a single agent, but you would be proving them wrong,” he said, all managed with one breath. Of course now Iggy needed to breathe again. So he did. Much better. He smiled down at her somewhat oblivious to the fact that he probably just sounded like he had ADHD or something of that sort. But he totally didn’t, considering he had been tested for it several times and everything. He just had the H part to it. You know, the hyper part. Maybe Special K could go to some special secret agent school where she could learn to not suck so bad. Iggy had a feeling she might need to go there. But he could totally help her. Ethan would pretty much to anything to make her happy now. At least he knew why he’d do that. Of course, even if the whole imprinting thing did not exist, he was fairly certain he’d be falling for her anyways. How could he not? She was freaking spectacular. ”I would totally do that for you. Besides, Ninja pirate hybrids aren’t the best thing. I mean, so much awesome packed into one object is rather explosive. And I wouldn’t want you to explode. Just find me a rusty spork and we’ll be good to go,” he joked. No, he would use a non-rusty spork. Wouldn’t want her to get that rust disease thingie, you know, the one that Iggy totally couldn’t remember at this point in time because he really didn’t care about it. ”But I think you can chop off your leg yourself. I would just feel bad if I did that,” he mused.
”Oh,” he said, feeling sad for her. ”I’m sure he’ll forgive you. That’s what family is supposed to do, right?” he said optimistically. He was certain that her brother would forgive her. If he didn’t, then Iggy might just have to have a word with him. There was no reason why her brother shouldn’t forgive her. She probably didn’t mean what she said anyways. See? If he came back for the holidays or she went to Seattle (God forbid), it would all be sorted by then definitely. Hopefully sooner though, he didn’t like to see her sad at all. ”Of course, my darling little piece of cereal,” he said, mock dramatically, clutching a hand to his heart. ”It’s as if the seas have opened up and taken my dear pirate darling away from me.” Now, there was an odd sentence or two. But you couldn’t really expect anything more or anything less from him. Of course, secretly it did kind of kill him to not see her, but he wasn’t going to admit that just yet. Apparently it was just another side effect of imprinting, but he really did feel like it hurt to be away from her. Like something was clawing at his tummy. ”I know, right? That vicious little bitch. One day I will just take all of it’s balls away, then it will be lost,” he laughed. That sounded dirty in a way, also very odd. Again, it was really to be expected. But Iggy didn’t really feel like talking about balls with Special K right now. There was so much he wanted to get off of his chest that it was driving him mad that he had yet to say anything. Oh! She didn’t know what it was. That was both bad and good for Iggy. Good because he got to explain it, bad because he had to explain it. ”Well, it’s just another crazy wolf thing,” he said casually, as if it was the most normal thing on earth. He had to ease into it somehow. Of course he could blurt out that he was madly in love with her, but somehow he didn’t see that working so well. ”Like love at first sight or something. One of my brothers told me that. Isn’t it funny?” he said as if it were just another thing in the world. Though he was easy going on the outside, he was secretly worried on the inside, freaking out. He was almost scared to see her reaction.

Kaitlyn was utterly amazed. Normally, a guy that was like Iggy was someone that she wouldn’t give the time of day to. Well, she would, but only for entertainment value. It was funny, in her mind, to see someone as hyperactive as he was just talk to you, but Kaitie thought differently when it came to him. She saw right past those things. What the hell was wrong with her? This wasn’t normal and she had to find a way to fix it, but the more she tried, the less it seemed to work. She just watched him as he made his movements, laughed, spoke to her, everything. Yeah, that sort of seem liked she was some crazed stalker, and it probably seemed that way as she had found herself in the same place as him, but she was certainly not a stalker. This meeting just sort of happened, not that she was upset. She really did enjoy seeing him. Every time she did, it was like waking up on Christmas and finding that thing she wanted most was under the tree. Woah! That made it sound like the only thing she wanted for Christmas was Ethan, though she would be highly amused to see him sitting by her tree with a giant bow on the top of his head. She would also be more than thrilled to see him there. Of course, explaining who he was to her mother would be a difficult feat. It would be even more of a problem explaining why he was there as, if it was on Christmas and he was under her tree, she would have no clue how he got there in the first place. Nonetheless, she was starting to like the idea of waking on Christmas Day and him being right there waiting for her. Fat chance! But, hey, a girl could dream, right? That was exactly what she was going to do, and very privately. She surely didn’t want him to think she was some sort of pervert or anything like that.
”Wow!” was all Kaitlyn could really bring herself to say. Then again, what else could she say after Ethan got all of that out in one breath? She was amazed he managed to do that. It shouldn’t really have surprised her, though. He had been doing that since the day she met him. Still, Kaitie found it unbelievable that he could get so much out at one time without taking a breath. When she did that, her voice would get really high pitched to the point where no one could hear her or it would grow frantic and panicky. ”Now, why would I spill America’s secrets? This is sort of where everyone I know lives. By giving away our secrets, I put everyone I love and care for in grave danger. I couldn’t do that.” Kaitie paused for a moment, ”Now, I can go spy on Russia. I would be afraid to spill their secrets, but I would need to learn Russian first.” She pouted, ”Stealthy or not, I would make an awesome double agent.” Pouting like a baby? Well, it was definitely a step above blushing the color of a beat. She was hoping that one never happened again. She got home and no amount of concealer could hide that. Not only that, she stayed that color for hours and it just wasn’t fun. That had been fun to explain to her parents, too. Lucky for her it had been a rather warm day and they believed the excuse that she was just overheated. ”Awe! I don’t want to be explosive either, but a ninja pirate hybrid just sounds way too cool to pass up,” she frowned, ”but I suppose if it makes you happy and feel better, then I’ll just stick to being a pirate. I even think I have a rusty spork back home that we can poke my eyeball out with.” Ok, it sort of sounded painful, but she was well aware that neither one of them really intended on it, which made her sort of sad because they wouldn’t be pirates together. ”You know, I think I like my leg a lot where it is. So, maybe I’ll keep it. Plus, peg legs are for boys,” she nodded, ”Maybe another time.”
Kaitlyn nodded, ”Yeah, we’ll get over it. We always do.” She wasn’t going to let that bring her down. For some odd reason when she was around Ethan, she couldn’t bring herself to be that way. Quite the opposite, she just felt like smiling the entire time. There was one good thing he did for Kaitie. She wasn’t sure the liked the other things; i.e., the butterflies, the giggles, the way she seemed to blush an embarrassing color. She hated that. That was one thing she could definitely do without in her life, but she wasn’t all that sure she was going to be able to get rid of it any time soon if at all for that matter. ”Piece of cereal?” she questioned and raised an eyebrow. Her question wasn’t harsh or anything. It was curious, but she still felt as though it needed to be asked. Why was he calling her a breakfast food? Her curiosity soon disappeared as he over dramatically grabbed his chest and held a hand where his heart was. She giggled in a rather flirtatious way. ”I guess I need to keep myself in La Push from now on, then. I wouldn’t want you desperate to see me.” She neglected to inform him that the very same could be said for her. Being in Seattle with her brother had been rather difficult. She just thought she was unnaturally homesick until she saw Iggy. Now, she was pretty sure it had everything to do with him. ”That evil table, it should know better.” Kaitlyn couldn’t bear to make herself repeat the last of what he had said. She tried, but it was all sorts of inappropriate in her mind. Instead, she found a way to avoid saying it. ”Well, hopefully it will learn its lesson when you take those from it.” She had said before that obscenity didn’t bother her, but that didn’t necessarily mean she was comfortable with repeating everything she heard. The explanation started and her eyes grew rather wide for a moment. She did not imprint on Iggy. No, she wouldn’t let herself believe that. She quickly regained her composure, sitting herself so that she was on the edge of the pool table looking at him. ”Really? How…how do you know you’ve imprinted?” She had to have clarification if she was going to believe this.

Hmm, what to do, what to say. Well, when being around Special K, the things to do and say were very questionable. Last time he kissed her and then decided that they should build a treehouse. Maybe he could just kiss her again, then they could go build that treehouse. He rather liked the idea. Or they could just stand there and make out for awhile. He also liked that idea, though he didn’t know how well that would fly with her. If it turned out she had imprinted on him just like he had imprinted on her, then she probably rather enjoy that. Unless of course she was some uber crazy religious chick that frowned on anything before marriage, and merely kissing Ethan the first time they met would send her straight to hell. But if she was already going to hell, then why would it matter if she had to go to hell for a second time? Well, it wouldn’t really be a second time, would it? It’d be more like just going to jail for a two life sentence, rather than a life sentence. Regardless she’d be there for the same amount of time, so Ethan didn’t understand why she was worrying about going to hell in the first place if she was already going there. Silly religious people; Ethan just did not understand them. Perhaps he ought to question Special K about that later. He always thought that it was a good idea to learn about other peoples’ religions. You never really know what good might come from them. He wasn’t actually all that religious himself. He was half native, so there was all that old tribal stuff. You know, like the manitous and things like that, but other than that it wasn’t as if he prayed to any specific “God” every evening or something.Though during times of great confusion like these, he almost wondered if that would help him. Because apparently, God would deliver messages to those that decided to seek them. Or something like that. He wasn’t quite sure. He found the Aboriginal stuff much more interesting than Christianity.
”Wow indeed,” Ethan said with a nod of his head. ”All that secret agent stuff? Yeah, it’s a tricky little bizznatch. So just watch what you’re getting yourself into,” he said with a decisive nod. At least, he assumed that she was wowing to the whole secret agent thing. He couldn’t think of another reason why she might be doing so. ”Well, I don’t know. Maybe it was one of those secrets that girls just have to tell at least one person, then they make that person swear not to tell anyone, but then of course that person does the same thing you just did, and before you know it the entire school knows that Betty-Jane was knocked up by her older boyfriend that’s in college,” he reasoned. Then again, maybe getting pregnant wasn’t exactly a national secret. Unless it was a baby between like, the president and some terrorist. That would be rather odd and quite a secret as far as Iggy was concerned. ”Hmm, that’s very true indeed. Wouldn’t want that happening,” Iggy mused over. He knew that if the people he loved got hurt at his expense he’d probably hurt himself a million times over. He supposed that secret agents would often have to be rather detached from their world around them. He didn’t want special K to be detached. In fact, he wanted the complete opposite. He wanted her very much so attached at his hip, so the saying went. ”Oh, sure you would,” he laughed and patted the top of her little blonde head. She was so darn adorable. Gosh was she definitely cute when she pouted too. ”Good, I’m rather glad that you aren’t going to go and get yourself exploded. You have a rusty spork? How wonderful! Now I don’t have to leave my spork collection out in the rain in hopes of one of them getting rusty,” he said. he totally did not have a spork collection. ”Only because girls can’t wear their silly little high heels with a peg leg,” he teased.
”See? No problem them,” he said rather happily. He was quite glad that Kaitlyn and her brother would not stay horribly mad at each other forever. He couldn’t quite imagine how Christmas dinner would go over if his brothers were fighting with each other. Well, more so than they already did. Somehow the Christmas tree always got knocked over by one of them. Most of the time it always seemed to surprise there mother, and this astounded Iggy. After all these years, he just sort of expected it to happen. But he did find it rather amusing to see his older brother in a time out. ”Yup,” he said with a nod and an innocent smile. He didn’t much feel like explaining why he called herself. Besides, he’d much rather see what conclusions she was able to draw. Ethan’s heart nearly burst out of his darn chest every time he heard that silly little laugh of hers. It just wasn’t fair! It was not possible that one person could have such control over another. But she did, and it freaked himself out just slightly. Most of the time he didn’t care though, but only because he liked her so much. ”Oh good, now I won’t need to get in a pirate ship and go all Pirates of the Caribbean 3 on your butt. I’d rather not have an octopus growing from my face. Facial hair never really suited me,” he said. That was the most disappointing movies of the franchise. Well, actually, the first one was the only really good one. The second movie was just like a preview to the third one. ”Definitely. If I was a pool table, I’d miss my balls,” he said with a serious face. He was actually pretty good at making a serious face, despite how much he was cracking up on the inside. Iggy sort of was dying inside as he was trying to explain what imprinting was to her. He prayed that he was not going to get a slap or a laugh in the face. Neither of those things were something he could deal with. He just wanted a hug and to be told that everything would work out perfectly. Yay for fairy tales! Ethan shrugged, not sure how to take the question. He could take it as she was asking the “symptoms”, or take it as if she were asking if he imprinted on someone. He’d go with the first, just to be safe. ”I don’t know exactly. My brother described it like looking at a guy that looked like he saw the sun for the first time. I guess it’s basically like love at first sight, but a whole lot deeper. You know, always wanting to be with the person, etc etc,” he shrugged, trying to keep an aloof manner. ”Why? Do you think you imprinted on someone?” he asked in a teasing manner, but was secretly awaiting her response.

i’m not your princess this ain’t a fairytale • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •
Kaitlyn couldn’t deny that seeing Iggy often offered some sort of surprise for her. Sure this only made the second time the two had run into each other, but the first time had at least proved to be somewhat of an adventure, hadn’t it? It started with him falling from a tree when she was walking around. Now, Kaitie wasn’t an easily scared sort of person. She had a brother and learned to deal with scary surprises and horror films very well, but someone falling from a tree and talking about what would have happened had he landed on you was certainly not fun. Anyone would have jumped and screamed because it wasn’t expected to have a complete stranger fall out of the sky like that. Not to say she screamed. She kept her composure very well, all things considered. She had almost been smashed. Then they got into other things, just talk. He made her laugh and blush the most embarrassing color a girl could ever blush. They talked about doing silly things that probably wouldn’t make sense to anyone else but themselves about things like mermaids and pirate ships. He kissed her, one huge surprise for her, although she really did enjoy it more than she should have. Then they went on like nothing happened talking about building tree houses and getting ice cream. Perhaps the biggest surprise wasn’t the events that had unfolded but that the conversation just seemed to flow naturally. There was normally such an awkwardness when meeting people, even for someone as openly welcoming to people as Kaitie had been, at least in the last year. She never knew what to say or what questions to ask. That had not been a problem with Iggy. Conversation just happened without a bit of hesitation. It was as if the two had known each other their entire lives and the jokes they cracked had been between them since they were little. Even more than that, Kaitie wasn’t afraid to act like a total goofball for him. Her being that just seemed to fit perfectly.
”Oh, I am totally going to watch out for myself if I get into this. I mean, when I get into this.” Kaitlyn nodded and responded as though that was what she was so baffled by. It was much better if he thought that it was the idea of being a secret agent that made her sound so unbelievably shocked. He didn’t need to know the truth, right? Right. It was better that way. ”Betty-Jane’s pregnant? How does that relate to national security?” Ok, Kaitie totally understood what Ethan was getting at with his whole explanation, but that didn’t keep her from acting like she had no clue what was going on. But she stopped herself. She wasn’t sure he was one of the guys who liked the whole dumb blonde act. ”I guess I know what you mean. Girls are horrible at keeping secrets from each other and before you know it, the whole country will know, even the people that don’t care and wanted world domination a long time ago.” Look! Now she was the one who wasn’t making much sense. How did this always happen to her when she was with Iggy? She blamed him for this, though he would probably laugh at her and then let her. ”No, we most certainly do not, especially considering you could be working your way up on that list. I know you don’t want to be dead because I suck at keeping secrets from Russians.” Suddenly adding Ethan into the equation had Kaitie quite nervous. Great! Now she felt like she would have to work extra hard at protecting him, not that he couldn’t take care of him. ”Hey! I would make a good double agent…with some practice.” She threw the last bit in there as she wore the most innocent expression ever. ”Yeah, I don’t want to explode either. And look! I saved your spork collection!” She nodded with satisfaction. ”Well, what more do you expect? We have to find some way to be taller.”
Kaitlyn nodded. She refrained from informing Ethan that the reason they were fighting was because of what they were and her brother’s inability to believe his younger sister when she was telling him something. ”No problem whatsoever.” She really did know it wouldn’t be a big deal. Kaitie was really curious as to why she was being compared a breakfast food. She hated when she felt like she was missing something like she clearly was now. But Iggy didn’t lead on to what that was. He just said, ”Yup.” That didn’t help her figure out any better. She would bug him about this later. For now she let it go. She didn’t want to see pushy. She wanted him to stick around a lot longer, not push him away. ”Facial tentacles are far more disturbing than facial hair. I would rather you not have them, either.” It would make him less attractive, though she was pretty sure with her current state of mind that wasn’t even an issue. Of course, it would be a bit hard to like someone that looked like an octopus, no matter their personality. She would actually probably run away from him screaming. There was just something terrifying about a guy who spent his day under water destroying ships. Then again, who was to say that Ethan would be one of those people? ”Just promise me, if I do leave you alone for an unbearable amount of time, that you won’t go and blow up other ships.” Wasn’t how the story went? It was close enough for her. It did had to do with a girl. She knew that much. Ethan’s face was so serious that Kaitlyn forced herself to just bite her bottom lip and keep the laughter to herself. ”Of course you would,” was just about all she could get out without just laughing hysterically. Yeah, he had said that on purpose. NO! Kaitlyn would not accept this whole imprinting thing. She refused to. Did she have a choice? No, she was helplessly in love with Iggy. There was no way she could try to hide that one or play like it wasn’t true. He had to ask, didn’t he? ”Um? I don’t know. Maybe…” She knew she had. She had imprinted on him, actually. She was just avoiding telling him that. He wasn’t her type. She didn’t date guys like him, ever. She wasn’t sure how to regain her composure after something like that. At least now she knew what was going on and why she felt the way she did, right? ”Do you think you imprinted.” Part of her was hoping he would say no or that he had on some other girl, but that would completely kill her.

”Good, I was worried there fore a second that you had gone and changed your mind about the whole secret agent thing. What kind of world would we live in without your oh so graceful and super stealthy skills? I mean, freaking Nicolas Cage would just go steal your independence thingie and the stupid NDP would be in power back home. It would just suck,” he said with a decisive nod. Wow, that really would suck. For the sake of the world, Iggy really hoped that Special K seriously become a secret agent. After all, how dare she risk those atrocious things? Tsk, tsk, tsk, it was like a crime against humanity. Ethan nodded with grave sincerity in his eyes, as if it were the most awful thing in the world. Truth be told, he didn’t even know a Betty-Jane. He knew a Betty Crocker, but that’s only because those were the only types of cakes his mother would make. With all her sons being werewolves, she didn’t have the time nor energy to make every single food item from scratch. There were many a nights when she was saved with the wonders of ordering many many pizzas. Their father did not understand how they could possibly eat so much, but he just chalked it up to hormones. Of course, their father was completely out of the loop about the whole werewolf situation. Their mother knew everything about it, considering her family had a long line of wolves to their name. She, however, did not get the gene, nor did any of her siblings, but her sons ended up with it somehow. Must have been passed down over the years. ”Well, if she was pregnant with like, Obama or Harper’s baby, then there would be some big national scandal. What do you do if you’re an evil country trying to take down one of the super powers? You kick them when they’re down, of course,”
he explained as if it were the most normal thing in the world. It really wasn’t all that normal, was it? Whatever.
”Exactly what I’m talking about. Never trust a girl with your secrets. Unless they can’t communicate with anyone. Then you can totally trust them with your secrets,” he decided. Then again, you couldn’t always even trust boys with your secrets. You never knew what sorts of things they would do. Though, Iggy was very good at keeping secrets, even if he did talk a lot. He knew enough to know that if someone asked you not to tell anyone, you didn’t tell anyone. Most of the time. There were a few obvious exceptions. You know, if your friend said they were going to murder someone, you might just want to call the cops. Then again, Ethan never had that happen to him, so maybe he was some sort of odd exception. ”You know what, now that my life is on the line too, maybe you shouldn’t be a secret agent,” he teased, though was slightly serious. No offense to Special K, but he didn’t want his head to get blown off because she was caught doing something secret agent-like. That would totally not be cool at all, man. ”I think I have another solution, especially if you do really wish to be an agent. Don’t learn Russian, and make sure you only speak to Russians that can’t speak English. That way, neither of you have a clue about what the hell the other is saying. That way your secrets are completely safe. Unless they’re written down in both languages. Then you’re screwed,” he said with a sigh. That really would suck, but seriously, who would be dumb enough to write secrets that needed to be kept from Russia, IN Russian? Like actually. Maybe they deserved to be smacked upside the head or worse, depending on the secret they let loose. Though last time he checked, he thought everything was cool between the Americans and the Russians. Maybe he was wrong though. ”Maybe if you weren’t so short in the first place, you wouldn’t have to were them,” he retorted and stuck his tongue out at her. Childish, yes; Iggy-ish, yes. Would he ever grow out of it? No.
Ethan knew that he probably had her more than slightly perplexed as to why he was referring to her as a piece of cereal. See, that he meant to keep in his head, but then it sort of slipped out. He was lousy with his own secrets, but he was perfectly awesome at keeping other peoples’ secrets. It was probably because he’d only have himself angry at him if he spilled his own secret, but then if you spill someone else’s secret, then you could have a rather large amount of people rather angry with you. ”This is true, though I can’t picture myself as a beard sort of guy. Or any facial hair. It’s odd, like a shrub sprouting out of your face. Unpleasant,” he decided. He rather envied girls for the fact that they did not have to put up with that sort of thing. It didn’t sound too fun to him. That’s why he shaved. If he didn’t shave, then he’d have shrubbery. Not cool. Plus he was totally not going to let an octopus attach itself to his face. Except maybe on Halloween, but that already came and went. He was dinosaur. RAWR. ”Hmm…. But what if blowing up a ship meant that I’d get you back? I mean, if I could blow the ship up, subsequently sending you flying into the air, then I caught you or you landed in a pile of marshmallows, would I still not be allowed to blow up ships?” he questioned. Or what if it was a bad pirate? He would totally be an awesome cool good kick ass pirate, not one of those mean ones that killed people. Unless they were vampires, but that was a whole other bucket of worms right there. Ethan laughed, wondering just how awkward he was making Special K feel with the mention of the pool table and its balls. He hoped it was a rather large amount of awkwardness, because that would just amuse him so dearly. Plus her cheeks got all pink and red, which he just loved so crazily. Iggy laughed then rolled his eyes. ”I think the point of imprinting is knowing that you’ve imprinted on someone,” he pointed out. He paused for a moment, wondering what to say. He really didn’t know. Might as well be honest. ”Yes, yes I did imprint on someone,” he said with a decisive nod.
