Elizabeth was in for a fresh start-- although she'd been at Forks High since freshman year, her junior year would be from scratch. All of her friends had moved away; that's what she got when their dads were in the armed forces. She had opted in the morning of that first day to not talk to anybody, to just learn her teachers' names and the routes to her classes. She had succeeded at this goal the entire day-- that is, until the final lunch period.
Elizabeth walked in the cafeteria. It was buzzing with conversation, with friends who had been reunited after a long summer. Every single table in the room was occupied. All except one. At this table sat a single boy. He stood out from the others, but Elizabeth didn't know why. She saw no harm in sitting with him, so she timidly made her way over. The boy didn't look up as she took her seat, but his aura definitely changed. He was tense.
Even without seeing his face, Elizabeth could tell this boy was incredibly good-looking. Such a rarity in this school. 'If he turns out to be a jerk', she thought, 'then I am officially screwed in the boyfriend department here.' The boy broke his stare from his untouched plate of food and looked at her intently. He opened his mouth to speak.

and fixed her shirt. Chloe turned away and headed straight for the cafeteria, hoping to find her friends in there. where they usually sat unless it was crowded as hell and they decided not to show up. Chloe made her way inside as she saw how crowded it was and she did not notice anyone she knew around here. "figures...geez" she whispered as she fiddled with her necklace. she sighed as she made her way to grab her lunch. she waited in line as she grabbed something to eat and paid for it. she closed her bag up as she had a soda in her hand. waving to some of the kids she knew in her class. she had stopped at a table real quick to talk to a girl she knew, asking about her bracelet she had on. lately everyone had been questioning her clothes, and honestly she liked it. all with the exception of the snobs, they just called her a city girl, or worse hood. she didn't mind at all. she chuckled at one of the guys sitting their as he flicked her hair in her eyes. she smacked his hand away slightly, and left the group. yeah she talked to them but didn't eat lunch with them. she spotted an empty table where a girl sat down. she slowly made her way over there. "hey...mind if i sit here...everywhere else is packed"[/ul]

Just as the boy was about to say something, Elizabeth saw a girl walk up to the table asking if she could sit. In haste, the boy snatched up his full tray of food and left. Elizabeth wasn't bothered; maybe he just had an attitude problem.
She looked back up at the girl and smiled kindly and said, "Yeah, sure!"
She threw her 'don't-talk-to-anybody' rule of the day out the window and hoped to make a new friend. Referring to the volume of kids in the cafeteria, Elizabeth said, "Ridiculous, isn't it?"

she replied as a joke. she smiled to the girl as she took a seat setting her lunch down along with her bag. she was soo glad she could eat she was running late this morning and she had to rush to school without breakfast and snatching small snacks from her friends in class, which is why she received a detention for the day. "Ridiculous, isn't it?" chloe chuckled it was ridiculous how packed it was, she saw kids who didn't even eat in here sitting down, she figured they were skipping class or something. "yeah it is...i doubt all these people are suppose to be in here right now" she replied. she brushed her hair out of her face as she opened her soda and took a sip. she took her lunch she had a burger and fries. she leaned back in her seat as she reached into her pocket for her ipod and pulled it out sitting it on the table. she was a music lover and always drowned herself in music. "i'm chloe...." she replied. [/ul]

Elizabeth laughed at Chloe's joke and kept a friendly face as Chloe replied to her question.
"Yeah, I doubt it..." Elizabeth said. She noticed she was taking out her iPod, and she hoped she wouldn't have to sit there feeling awkward while Chloe drowned all else out with her music. Curious, Elizabeth asked, "What kind of music are you into?" People who were into country music were so rare around here, and Elizabeth hoped to one day meet that one person that actually liked it.

chloe looked at the girl and then at her ipod. she had her own music of course and she drowned herself into it alot. "hip-hop, pop, some rap, dance, party much, little bit of rock" she replied. she had her own taste in music if she liked the beat of the music and the lyrics then it was a go, she didn't care how famous the artist was she loved the music.[/ul]

"Oh," Elizabeth muttered. 'Well, this is awkward,' she thought. She struggled to start a conversation. Why was this so hard for her? All the bustle and noise in the cafeteria wasn't helping her think. Elizabeth tucked her hair behind her ear and opened her mouth to speak. Nothing came out.

Elizabeth was relieved when Chloe leaned back and had something to say. "I tend to sit with people, but I never talk to them. Today's just one of those rare days when there's an almost-empty table." She didn't talk to people not because she didn't want to... it was more like she was unable to. She found herself so socially inadequate. If she tried to strike up a conversation with somebody, they looked at her like she had a rooster on top of her head. Elizabeth always waited for somebody to make the first move in casual conversation.
