Even if the air wasn't as cold as it could be, and even if the moon died to plummet the world into total darkness, children still danced and the flowers would still bloom.
Illyria Massacre was on another trip to Seattle. Partially because she was hungry and also because she was bored. Today, she had pulled her long blonde hair back into pigtails and left just enough hair around her face to give it closure. Since it was the middle of November and Illyria still had enough human inside of her to feel the cold, she had bundeled up, but not much. She only wore tight jeans shoved into stillettos and a tight v-neck sweater that showed way to much cleavage. She also wore a scarf to cover her neck and mittins. If she could only find someone to play with... She grinned as her bloodlust increased. She had to find a populated place. But right now, all she could do was continue down the sidewalk towards whatever she might find interesting.

Elizabeth absolutely hated driving. She much preferred walking to clear her mind. And the cold to clear her sinuses. She parked her car in the second of the three adjacent mini-plazas and decided to walk around and get some unimportant things done. Really, she didn't have anything to do. But both of her parents were home for the weekend, and that was just... unbearable.
The drive to Seattle had taken much of the afternoon, as she had a late start. Dusk was approaching, and the temperature had dropped significantly. While the rest of her body didn't feel cold, the air nipped at her ears. On her way to her first stop at one of the random stores, Elizabeth noticed only one other girl coming her way on the sidewalk. That wasn't untypical to see, but it was a bit senseless to be walking in this weather... but look who was talking. Elizabeth decided to give the girl a friendly smile, as her expression looked a bit withdrawn. The facial movement made her cheeks ache slightly.
But as the girl looked up, Elizabeth's heart jumped when she saw her eyes. They had a tint of red in them. 'No, that's stupid of me to think that,' she thought. 'There's just... there's no way they really exist...' While she had always hoped they had, it took her totally by surprise to actually see first-hand the possibility that they did. She'd heard the stories. A lot of them were myths, she supposed. But she couldn't let the wrong person find out about this girl. God, what could somebody do to her if they found out? She couldn't let this happen. No way, no how. And there certainly wasn't any way (if those stories were politically correct, of course) she'd let the girl take an unwilling, unsuspecting human. Elizabeth herself was more willing than some total stranger might be in a deserted alleyway. And she certainly saw something was about to happen.
She hoped the girl would acknowledge her. And Elizabeth also hoped the girl found her remotely appetizing. Nobody innocent would be harmed tonight, not on Elizabeth's watch.

Illyria was just about to pass her when her nose caught something yummy. The girl was human. Running her tongue over her teeth, she turned to face the girl, giving her a smirk. "Why hello there," her eyes ran up and down the girl, wondering if she was the perfect meal or not. "Your looking quite...fabulous today" she said, barely laughing as she had to bite her tongue from saying scrumptious. Since the damn Cullens had been running the show, Illyria could never find a good meal. For the past month she'd been eating animals. And those werewolves...she growled low at the thought of those mongrels. Unclenching her teeth, she gave the girl a friendly smile.

Elizabeth internally shuddered and her heart jumped. "Hi," she said, smiling.
"You're looking quite... fabulous today," the girl said.
It had sounded like she'd meant to say something else. There was definitely something different about this stranger. Elizabeth just couldn't work up the gall to admit it to herself.
"Thanks," she replied, trying to hid the awkwardness in her tone. "Were you headed anywhere special?" She seriously could use some company. Elizabeth had grown quite sick of leaving town alone, but she had also grown tired of her parents' constant bickering. Not to mention the fact that she was dying to see if her thoughts about the girl could be confirmed.
'This is so sick of me,' she thought.

She smiled kindly at the girl, tilting her head. "Oh, well-" She licked her lips involuntarily "-I was actually thinking about heading to the park..." she said, her eyes locked on the pumping vein in the girls neck. She was just so hungry, and at this time at night, no one would be out there. The park would be isolated and she could have her treat. "Would you like to join me??" she asked her, trying hard to bring the lust out of her voice.

'When I said company... I mean being in a populated area,' Elizabeth thought. Her heart continued to pound in her chest, and she was absolutely certain this girl was a vampire. And since that was the case, Elizabeth knew she could hear her heartbeat. Her breathing picked up and her mind began to race. 'What have I gotten myself into?' she thought frantically.
She wasn't prepared for this. She couldn't leave her parents behind. But if she tried to run, the girl would surely be able to kill her within the blink of an eye.
The girl kept licking her lips. Elizabeth's stomach churned violently. She could feel the back of her neck dampen with sweat.
Off the top of her head, Elizabeth stammered in response, "Actually, I-- I'm meeting... up with somebody." Her lie sounded obvious even to herself, so she knew it was a beacon to the vampire.
Elizabeth looked down at the ground and closed her eyes. She took a deep breath opened them, and looked back up. She avoided making eye contact. "I'm sorry," she whispered. Her voice broke. She took a step forward and hoped the girl wouldn't try again to lure her somewhere.
