Kara had had a very rough weekend. After everything that had happened with Kaleb and Britney, the way they had treated her, she had gone home and locked herself in her room. She didn’t answer the phone when they called or anything. It was going to take a face-to-face explanation from them to set things right. So far it had been a regular, boring Monday with the teachers droning on and on about how important exams were and how all the students should be studying night and day to pass their finals with the best grades possible. Everyone seemed cheerful today, it was a sunny day and there were a lot of people absent. The Cullens, Brittany and several others. It seemed as if almost half the school were absent today.
Kara walked out of her history class, glad that her last class before lunch was her free period. She usually spent her free period in the music room and today was no exception. She walked into the music room and sat her books and purse on the nearest shelf, which just happened to be nearly overflowing with music of nearly every genre. Taking a look around again, she was overwhelmed with the music room again. Due to some rather large financial donations from several anonymous donors, the music room was outfitted with every type of musical equipment one could possibly want, and not just instruments, either but Microphones, Speakers, Amplifiers…everything.
Kara bent over her bag and extracted a CD from it. It was a track that she and her band had been working on for a while. The title was, The Kid in You, and it was dedicated to her brother, hoping that it would somehow touch him and remind him of how close they used to be. She’d had the opportunity to release it on two different albums now, but something held her back. She walked over to the sound board, set up the board with the bass and treble and mix the way she liked it and popped the instrumental CD in, making sure to grab the remote so that she could start the music when she wanted. She chose a tambourine from the instrument shelves and after warming up and getting the rhythm she wanted going, she turned on the CD and began to sing.
