Character History:

Kara was born in Beverly Hills, California 17 years ago to Charlotte Michaels. She had a normal early childhood until she was 3. She began shaking at odd moments and staring into space and smacking her lips. Worried, Charlotte sought out the best doctors she could find to tell her what was wrong with her little girl. Kara was scared and worried a lot at that time. She kept wondering why her mommy kept taking her to all these mean and scary doctors and why she kept having to leave her friends and her toys behind to go to all these weird hospitals. The time right before her diagnosis was very odd and very scary to the 3 year old Kara. She grew very close to her brother Kaleb at the time, having no one else to play with, it was during this time that her love of music began.

Shortly after the diagnosis of Epilepsy was confirmed, Charlotte and her children moved to Seattle, Washington and settled down as best they could. Kara’s epilepsy made it somewhat hard for her to make friends so Charlotte enrolled her daughter in Piano and voice lessons to give her something special in her life. Even at a young age Kara had a talent for music and a way of drawing in an audience. Kara began writing her own music at about age ten. Her first paying gig was about the same time as well as her first album. Kara had offers for Albums and tours but she kept insisting that she was not ready to be a star, that she did not know if she ever would be.

Charlotte wanted to give Kara and Kaleb a normal life, so rather than force her daughter to take her music farther, she allowed Kara to make her own choices regarding her music. Kaleb and Kara were very close growing up, but Kaleb was very smart and excelled in school taking AP Classes in High School and graduating early. He is now a junior at Washington State University. Charlotte became a deputy under Sherriff Charlie Swan of Forks PD and She moved Kara to forks with her, hoping that a change of scenery might help Kara’s worsening Epilepsy and her depression over her separation from Kaleb. Kara is somewhat eager to try to start a new life, but is afraid of trying to make friends.

Personality:

Kara is somewhat quiet and reserved. She is friendly and kind and it’s rare that she meets anyone that she does not like. She withdraws into herself at times, especially if she has had a seizure recently. She spends a lot of her free time either writing music or singing. When she performs she is another person altogether. When singing she is bubbly and outgoing. She is animated and she allows her music to express emotions that she would normally try to hide. Kara is a dreamer and is very creative, as evidenced by her music and her appearance. She has what can only be described as a bad-girl image, dressing frequently in form fitting clothing, Leather and High heeled boots.

She hides her anger and frustrations inside too much and lets them build until they either burst out when she is performing, or she lets them out in a torrent of words that could possibly leave the receiver suffering from a severe case of verbal whiplash. Kara has an incredible desire to somehow make a difference in the world. She dreams of one day being able to help find a cure for Epilepsy. She is quite often mistaken for a wild child and a bad girl just based on her appearance. Somewhere deep inside that wild child longs to be let out. She feels that somehow she needs saving and as she sings. “But I wanna know who’s gonna save me!”

Galatea walked out the back door of her parents house. She popped the ear buds of her ipod into her ears, Selecting her favorite piano tune best known as “The Lonely Man”. It was the theme of the television series ”The Incredible Hulk”. She walked through the woods down the well worn path from her family’s house in Forks to First Beach in La Push. Galatea emerged from the tree line at the edge of the beach. Choosing a driftwood log not too far from the shore, she sat down and brushed her long brown hair over her shoulder as she listened to her music.

She idyllically braided her waist length Brown hair as the soft tinkling of piano music swelled in her ears. She sighed softly while she secured her braid with the scrunchie she almost always wore around her wrist. Looking out across the grey foam capped waves of the pacific ocean. She had no clue that she was being watched, nor that someone was struggling very hard not to attack her right at that moment. She did not move from her spot on that log, but feeling a cold hand on her shoulder she jumped. Looking up she saw the most beautiful burgundy eyes. Something told her that she should be afraid but somehow she wasn’t. She calmly looked into they eyes of the blonde haired man standing before her and said softly, “Hello.”
