embry was patrolling alone again today but he didn't mind too much. he didn't like patrolling with the newer wolves as much because they obviously didn't have much self control. they were like puppies to him, every new thing they saw the wanted to go investigate. it was like a whole other world to them seeing things with their new and much more efficient wolf eyes. and testing out the new strengths and abilities that came with the phasing. it was an enormous amount of power to get all of a sudden. and it was even more annoying when they thought they could take on a vampire. they had no idea how old some of these vampires were and most of them were doing what they did much longer than the newer wolves. they didn't realize that you couldn't just go in head on in a fight with a vampire. you needed to actually think it out watch their actions and learn from your mistakes. though it was rather interesting watching them train with the older wolves. while they rushed into it and tried to win with brute strength the older wolves just took their time and won easily. embry enjoyed watching which made him think of when he was first starting out. to be honest in the beginning embry was freaked out with everything that was happening. in the beginning he thought he had to be sick. his body was burning up and he couldn't explain what was happening because he didn't feel sick. he felt completely fine minus the fact he was so hot. but luckily the guys in the pack helped him go through everything, especially sam. it was hard not talking to jacob during the whole time. he was the guy he went to for everything and then all of a sudden it seemed like embry was ignoring him. but luckily it didn't last too long before jacob changed too. being a wolf really changed him he had to admit. now instead of just hanging out with the guys he actually had some type of responsibility. he had to take care of the people who lived around him who couldn't take care of themselves. he didn't know what they would do if they find out about vampires and how if it wasn't for the wolves constant patrolling any of them could have already fallen victim to them. and it wasn't like ordinary humans could defend themselves against a vampire. nothing they had or could make would hurt the vampires. though they did have the wolves who would die for the people of la push.

embry continued running through the wolves his paws making large prints into the ground. he loved the feeling when he ran through the mountains. especially cause there weren't that many humans there so he didn't have to hide himself as well. sometimes when he was patrolling the forests near forks he'd always run into humans either playing in the woods or having some type of party. it was never safe for them to be in the woods in the first place so the pack normally had to find a way to either make sure they were protected or to get them to leave. but in the mountains there were only a few people who tried camping here even though they knew about some of the dangerous animals that lived in the area. if only they knew about the most dangerous ones. but thats what he was here for today, to make sure they were safe and never had to find out. he continued running quickly dodging trees and small roots in the ground that tried to trip him up. if a wolf could smile then he'd be smiling at this very moment. he stopped for a moment and sniffed around. he smelt a wolf in the area. except this was a new wolf that he knew he hadn't came across before. he knew that the wolf wasn't in his pack and they didn't smell like they were in jacob's either. but embry couldn't be sure so he ran back to where he had his clothes waiting. jumping he phased in the air and landed on his feet. it was just faster that way now that he could go from wolf to human in only a matter of seconds. pulling on his pants embry started walking towards where he smelt the wolves. he put on his shirt as he walked and started going off into a jog. it would have been easier if he could talk to whoever it was face to face. new wolves in the area that didn't belong to a pack weren't always the best of things.

``Keisha loped lazily along. She had decided today to ramble around. Check out the trails at the farthest reaches of wolf territory. They had effectively put her right into the mountains just on the other side of the boarder. She was pleasantly surprised. There weren’t many people around, so she could take her time and just wander around a bit. Not to mention it was actually really beautiful up here. The breath she pulled in was thick with the smells of the forest. Rain, cedar and pine, wet grass… it soothed her so much. She had had to spend a lot more time in her human form since she was back in Forks. Of course she had made a couple of friends, ones she was actually starting to open up to… but it still wasn’t the same. Keisha just missed her wolf self.

`` Padding along the trail, her small paws left tiny marks in the soggy earth. She stopped for a moment and pondered that. She was probably one of the smaller wolves, hardly bigger then a large dog, if not the smallest. It made her seem delicate and vulnerable. In reality it made her all but either. She quick, light on her feet, and agile to an extreme. She could fit in smaller spaces that the other wolves that were bigger couldn’t. What’s more, she was a girl. Not many females had the wolf gene. She lucked out. Big time. She remembered her father used to tell her that it might not happen. Thank God it did. Keisha wasn’t exactly sure what she would’ve have done if it didn’t. But then again if it hadn’t happened, maybe she wouldn’t even be here now. She heaved a heavy sigh, and continued walking.

`` Letting her mind wander, she wondered what Pete was up too. He had said he was going into town… Keisha just hoped he wasn’t stealing anything. Her younger brother could have some pretty sticky fingers when he wanted to. And where did he learn that one, Keish? she thought sarcastically to herself. That was completely her fault. Most of what they owned was stolen. Still, what they had wasn’t much. But now Keisha and Pete had jobs, they were making their own money so they didn’t have to steal as often… But even then. Their paychecks barely got them food for the week. Keisha couldn’t let her mind linger long on that. She jumped off the path for a little while and walked under the cover of trees. She had this strange feeling, like something was coming.

`` Keisha knew her feelings well enough to know not to ignore them. Dashing for the cover of a dense thicket, she jumped to soar over the branches, and changed back into a human mid-jump. She landed on her hands, letting her arms fold as she rolled, spreading out the shock of the land to a minimal scale. She quickly untied the clothes she had secured around her ankle. Shimming quickly into her shorts and bikini top, she cast her sharp eyes around quickly. Keisha could smell what was coming now. Well not so much what as who. It was another werewolf. She didn’t know his scent, but in a strange sense it seemed familiar. Racking her brain, she finally came up with why it was sort of familiar. Keisha had smelled it not all that long ago. Around her house too. Whoever it was must have been with a pack around here. Crap. That probably didn’t mean a good thing for Keisha or Pete. They were loners. Wanders. That was all. Besides, no way in hell would Keisha be pleased with taking orders from someone. She just hoped being a part of a pack wasn’t required. Either way, as the wolf got nearer, Keisha glanced up at the tree above her, picked a branch, and jumped. Then she swung herself up and over, watching the ground silently and carefully, hoping, praying that she wouldn’t have to give up her freedom.
