`` Keisha wandered around her old house restlessly. Fortunately it was still boarded up and unoccupied and hadn’t been looted by anyone. Least they’d done a bang-up job of closing shop before they had left so many years ago. She was on edge though. Being in the confined space bugged her still, it was only her first week back in her home after all. Pete had taken back to the normal life right away; he was asleep upstairs in his old room. Keisha however, wasn’t that lucky. She was used to moving at night, sleeping during the day. And it bugged her not being under the sky. Groaning in frustration she threw her fist into the wall, making it rattle from the force of impact. Pulling her hand back and shaking it out, she was almost surprised to find that there wasn’t a dent. Then again the house was built by her father. Pulling in a deep breath, Keisha darted up the stairs, moving quickly so the floorboards wouldn’t squeak… much anyway.
`` Ducking into her bedroom, she pulled out one of her numerous black tank tops, and her baggier black jeans. She quickly stripped off her PJ’s and shimmied into her clean cloths, moving as quickly and silently as she could, so she wouldn’t wake up Pete. Finishing up by pulling her hair into a sloppy bun, she moved out of her room, glancing to her right at the closed door. It hadn’t been opened in years, and even now, she still didn’t dare. Tearing her eyes from it, she glided down the stairs and out the front door, grabbing the thick twine off the door handle and leaving her black Vans where they had been tossed by the door. Pete wouldn’t be up until afternoon anyway, so she had time to kill as she wandered out onto the old wooden porch and down the steps onto the lawn, barefoot and loving the feel of the soft rain sprinkled earth. She dashed into the woods, making sure she was covered enough before slipping out of her clothes and tying them around her ankle.
`` Her sleek black and white wolf frame was really no bigger than a dog’s. She had no idea, but she was pretty sure she held the record for smallest wolf around. She didn’t care. It made her quick and light on her feet, perfect distraction material. Keisha bounded off into the forest, heading over the same trails she remembered from so long ago. The rain didn’t bother her a bit, even as it pelted her face the faster she moved. Finally, after winding around trees and over bushes and roots, she slowed to a slow a leisurely walk. Around her the forest took on its own cadence, rain pattering lightly, small breezes rustling the leaves. She heaved a content sigh and continued walking easily along. At the edge of the forest line she peaked out looking carefully around for some sign of anybody. Not a being in sight or in smell either.
`` Keisha laid down and chewed quickly through the string holding her cloths around her furry ankle. Once the string and her cloths fell to the forest floor, she picked them up, careful not to slobber all over them and moved them underneath and thick brush. The ground was still dry under there and her cloths would be nice and dry by the time she needed them. With that, Keisha turned and ventured out on to the rockier ground. Moving carefully, she took in a big breath of ocean air. The drizzle was light now, but the grey clouds still swirled ominously on the horizon. The wind kicked up a bit coming in from the ocean, and Keisha closed her eyes as she sat at the edge of the cliffs, taking in another deep breath, and letting it out this time in a grateful huff. She felt so content being back in her wolf form, almost like she never wanted to go back to being a human. But she’d have too sooner or later. She just hoped it would be later.

he heard a few honks outside so he slipped into his shoes and headed towards the door. yelling at his mother that he was leaving griffin opened the door and bolted out the door. griffin grinned as soon as he saw everyone in the car. opening the door he hoped into the back. it was rather squished but everyone was making the most of it. it was a loud and fun ride there everyone singing along rather badly to the music that was playing on the radio. but after a while they finally got to the beach and met up with everyone else there. griffin hoped out of the car and looked around. it was starting to look like a nice day on the beach. whenever griffin came to la push he couldn't help but notice the kids here were just so much more bigger than he expected. even though they were his age some looked like they had to be at least twenty-five. and they looked like they could probably snap him in half if he got on their bad side. even so they were still a pretty cool group of guys to hang out with. after a while of hanging out in the water and playing football with the guys griffin took a seat on a log and watched as the guys started to build the bonfire. looking up at the cliffs he wondered what it looked like from the top. he heard that some of the kids here loved going cliff diving but only when the water was safe enough for them to jump in. griffin knew he probably would never try it but he was curious what it felt like to jump off a cliff.
leaving the group he started going through the forest on a path he knew lead to the cliff top. it started to rain in the forest but he didn't really mind considering he was already pretty wet from swimming in the water. griffin wasn't sure how long it would take him to get up to the top but he was hoping it didn't take long. the rain slowed down to a small drizzle which he didn't mind. after walking for a little while he finally saw the infamous cliff top where all the kids jumped off of. but apparently he wasn't the only one who wanted to be on the cliff top. there was a dog laying on the edges of the cliff. griffin knew that most people in his situation would probably walk away in fear that the dog might attack. but it didn't look dangerous and he thought that maybe it was a stray. walking slowly he took a seat near the dog. hi, i'm griffin he told it with a wave knowing that it wouldn't understand him. but he wanted to be polite and introduce himself anyways. the dog didn't have a collar one so he wasn't sure whether it had a name or not.

`` The horizon was hazy. Maybe that had something to do with the fact that she really wasn’t seeing it. Or it always could have been the fact she was blind in her left eye. But that probably wasn’t it. Oh well. She wasn’t dwelling on that. Nope. She was in a different time. Hundreds of years previous to the current date as a matter of fact. The last time she was up here. That had been before she and her brother had left. She had just sat here. Almost in the exact same spot actually. She hadn’t been thinking about anything really. Just staring blankly at the horizon. Right now Keisha was getting a very strange sense of déjà vu. She just let it come. She was sick of caring. Sick of trying to push out the old memories. That had been next to impossible since she came home. But her stubbornness had gotten the best of her and she’d been trying to fight it. Now, she just let it sweep her away. The memories of her childhood, her parents, their deaths, the depression, and then finally her and her brother leaving. She at least rushed through the flood, rather than lingering in it. There would be plenty of time for that later. For now, she rushed it. But, at the very least, they were finally out.
`` She had been so deeply submerged in her thoughts that she had totally missed the human advancing on her. Keisha didn’t realize she wasn’t alone until the foot steps were no more than a few feet away. She kept still at first, more so out of making a decision then out of fear. Her clothes were in the forest behind her. And now that this guy had seen her, she knew a dog couldn’t just disappear and a human walk out in its place. That would just be a little bit strange. She watched warily as he sat beside her and introduced himself. The introduction was like speaking with another human being, and Keisha wondered if he knew she was a shifter. Even so she wouldn’t take her chances. Griffin didn’t seem like he was going to hurt her, but even so she got up and took a few steps away, then laid down again, making sure to keep a bit of distance between herself and Griffin.
`` From where she was, she looked him over. Keeping her head tilted to the left to get the best possible view with her good eye. It was obvious in her wolf form that she was blinded in the left eye since it was a strange milky white. Griffin had probably noticed that. She wished she could tell him her name, but at the moment she couldn’t. Not without scaring him off anyway. Unless he knew. But, again, she wasn’t taking chances. She was turned slightly toward him, front paws stretched out in front of her and her back ones curled up underneath her just in case she needed to run for it. But as she looked intently at Griffin that instinct subsided, and she shifted her sleek body into a more comfortable position. Thankfully she just looked like a pretty big dog. Nothing too out of the ordinary at least. Flattening her ears against her head, she stretched her head out toward him, wiggling her nose as she scented the air around him. What could she say? Keisha was just curious to see what other species he hung out with.
`` As she continued playing dog (she’d gotten extremely good at it over the years, considering she had rarely left her wolf form) she waited for him to do something. Probably talk again. He seemed like a talker. After all he had just introduced himself to a dog. The next time he looked at her she twitched her ears up toward him and then down again, telling him she was still listening. Keisha even added a small wag of her tail for encouragement. She knew many people who would just talk to dogs, just because. People thought dogs were good listeners. Heck. Listening as a dog was the easy job after all, and Keisha was good at it.
